Proclamation issued by the Committee on history appointed by San Francisco Mayor Eugene E. Schmitz asking persons who were present during the 1906 earthquake and fire to submit statements detailing their experiences. The broadside includes a suggested list of questions to be addressed. Mayor Schmitz appointed this committee upon the suggestion of U.S. Circuit Judge William W. Morrow for publication by the War Department.
